A Journey from Numbers to Narratives – Discovering My Creative Rhythm
After completing my commerce graduation, I embarked on a journey into the corporate world as an Account Executive. In the monotonous rhythm of numbers and spreadsheets, somewhere I found my creativity lost in my 9 to 5 routine.
In the second phase of my career, I initiated my writing journey as a freelance writer in a Lucknow-based software company at Aadox, just to explore my writing skills, which was also my childhood hobby. And, here my journey as a ‘Writer’ began. It was hard to believe such a transformation had made my career life so happening. This job change helped me to restore my creativity side and there was a lot more talent that remained unexplored yet. It brought meaning to my life and showed me a path to explore a better version of myself.
With a lot of articles and an assortment of topics that interest me, my hidden wealth of creativity exploded. My working hours were now full of enthusiasm and excitement, like never before. It surprised most people how a job can be so exciting and enjoyable.
Only a passionate individual living his passion in his work life can answer this.
What motivated me to stay in my writing career is the appreciation that I used to get in my writing work which was missing in my earlier accounting career. It’s true, that not everyone is made for everything. We just need to listen to our inner voice to come up with our best form.
When I throw a light on my flashback childhood memories, spending hours immersed in the storybooks was my favourite time. Reading and writing are my two hobbies that still work as detoxifying drinks for me and make my stress to half. I believe, it not only helps you to grow as a person, but also makes you more expressive.
Nothing is as soothing as penning down your unique thoughts and imaginations into a piece of paper. I worked in an assortment of companies offering a variety of writing tasks belonging to different niches and industries. At an early stage of my writing career, I used to write content like website content, blogs, articles, press releases, ad copies, social media posts and YouTube descriptions. I tried to best fit my writing capabilities into the needful of content required by companies.
During my content writing journey, I explored various forms of writing- creative as well as non-creative. I realized that learning each writing style was essential to refine my writing skills and not every project will involve your creative skills. Thus, my focus was not solely on creative writing, but I worked for various other non-creative and technical writing to learn various other forms of writing styles and polish my writing skills all around. Sometimes, going far from what you already know and stretching your efforts to learn new things is essential for a fantastic comeback to your track with upgraded skills.
In my entire 8 years of writing career, I have spotted new learnings at each step of my career. I learned a lot and each of them has refined my writing skills. I never took any of the writing tasks as a trivial task. I equally treated all my writing assignments as an opportunity to learn something new, play with words and raise my efficiency.
As a professional network began to expand, the project multiplied, leading to an overload of work. I started delegating a few of my tasks to my fellow writers and retaining creative projects. I always took each of my writing tasks seriously and tried to put my best into it.
In my writing journey, I learned a few important things that I would like to share-
Continuous learning is the key.
Make yourself versatile and extend your writing capabilities.
Learn from each of your projects.
Give your best.
Keep on adorning your boutique of vocabulary and learning new writing trends.
Don’t let your writing career be boring, keep some scope for experiments and adventure by accepting new challenging tasks.
With the digital world evolving and the abundance of the internet, I think writing is one of the finest careers for artistic people who love to express their thoughts and creativity through their creative writing.
Today, writers can be more artistic with their work with endless exploration possible on the internet. The availability of various online platforms for upcoming writers to showcase their artworks to the world has helped in their evolving careers and delving into the pool of opportunities.
