Need a Miracle?
Does the word impossible fill your mind with discouragement or hope? Manu Kumar Lal’s new book will help you ask yourself and go believe in God for the impossible.
This book reminded me that God is bigger than we think. We often hold a narrow view of him that underestimate his role in sustaining every moment of our being. Were we to understand him better, miracles would not pose such an intellectual difficulty.
In the book “Miracles over a cup of Cappuccino“, we meet two main protagonists namely Aryaman Shroff and Harshpati Lal. The whole book revolves around the roller coaster life of these two characters and their respective families. Life is indeed not a bed of roses for anybody perhaps the biggest asset in the world is your own mindset which very few people feel the urge to invest in.
In the first half we get to see how Aryaman is caught up in his own web of thoughts and the challenges offered to him by today’s not so compassionate era of the world. His wife and daughter part ways with him as he is not able to cope up with his mind and challenges. But as the title mentions pretty well that Miracles do happen so a miracle happens in Aryaman’s life too. He hears his inner voice although going through the most turbulent phase of his life where his inner turmoil was misguiding him to end his life, the inner voice which succeeds in awakening him from inside to give himself one last chance and not give up, the inner voice persuades him to take a positive approach and hope to overcome his turbulent phase with grace and positive spirit. In his journey of overcoming his demons and shed his negative shell he gets to meet nine different angels who help him alter his perceptions forever. These nine angels shared their life miracles with Aryaman which gave him a deeper insight of how one could live life with some amount of unshakable patience in the midst of darkness, some insight of one’s own actions and most importantly having gratitude for whatever one already has in one’s life. In today’s world we are living in a rat race and have sadly have lost these jewels inside of us which we were blessed and gifted equally and prefer to give more importance to the never stable worldly possessions.
The second half shows the sparkling life of a NRE Harshpati Lal who lives in New York and is a very successful businessman. He too has a very loving family but the fact that no one escapes the tests and trials in one’s life. His family members also revolve around the same agony of the world. They prove that saying very well that ‘all that glitters is not gold’. All the members of his family are at peace and suffering too at the same time.
Divided into two separate strands, I must admit ‘Miracles over a cup of Cappuccino’ is indeed very satisfying and interesting as all the characters are some way or the other inter connected with each other in the way of inspiring one another.
The main idea and whole concept seemed very curious and I was very interested in the beginning to see how this story will play out. I could connect fully to the characters as I myself believe in Miracles do happen only if one believes that there’s something better coming up for you even if life has thrown lemons on you try and make a lemonade out of it, it might sound cheesy but my personal experiences in life related very well to the book. It reminds me of a saying I heard from my mentor that throw a lucky man in the ocean and he will come out with a fish in his mouth, which attributes to a healthy mindset.
A story is told in a very thrilling way relaying some deeper meanings of life, the novel raises some interesting ideas about acceptance, over powering negative emotions and inspiring the one’s in need and living a useful life. It can be a delight for all those genres who believe in god and spirituality.
So How has God brought a miracle into your life? What prayers has He answered for You? How have you discovered a more intimate walk with Him?
