Content is something that people consider to be produced very easily- well go and ask a writer!
I was not a big writer myself. The fact that I entered into the space of content writing and actually made a deal out of it is simply an astonishing turn in my journey as well.
This started as volunteer work during COVID-19- when everyone was actually immersing themselves in learning and gaining something useful out of boredom.
A huge cultural fanatic myself, I was enrolled in a non-profit organization, operating on national and international platforms and promoting Indian culture to an immaculate extent.
Since my school days, I have been fascinated by its intricacies and decided that this would be the perfect project to take on during my learning phase.
Coincidentally, I landed in the content team. Unaware of the technicalities that swirled around that aspect, I was very confused to approach anything- till I met my mentor. A great teacher by heart and an even better friend, she is the reason why I have continued and will continue to embrace my journey as a content writer.
All that I am as a writer today, is something that has been polished by her. For a novice like me, being published in newspapers and getting my writings circulated on national platforms was a dream. The belief that she has instilled in me is growing with every project that I take on.
The learning curve of my path as a writer has been growing multifold. Ever since I have gained the guidance that is crucial for every budding writer to explore, I haven’t looked back. One after the other, I have had amazing projects in different industries to add to my knowledge and every single one has been a positive experience.
Psychology is a realm that deals with every aspect of human involvement, and what’s better than writing to actually see its true impact on human psychology. Being a psychology major, I wanted to explore the utility of learning this great subject and applying it outside of clinical settings, just for the fun of it. This idea took off when I entered the space of influencer marketing- with the sole purpose of influencing, what better industry to actually apply the learned tactics?
Learning about influencer marketing brought on a lot of challenges for me- it was a new world altogether. But it did give me the space to breathe and learn- so much so that I started garnering new clients as soon as I stepped in. Even here, I was graced with the presence of a great mentor who built this startup herself and is now a proud founder of two marketing firms working their way to success.
My journey as a writer was graced by two memorable projects- my integration of psychology to influencer space and secondly when I worked on an international recruiter’s social media page to drive sales in the country. Both of them might seem like they are poles apart, but they aren’t.
They simply carry the common fulcrum of learning consumer behavior and applying psychology to harness the fame game.
It hasn’t been easy- I have had my fair share of bad experiences with clients who were rude, ungrateful, and sometimes financially robbing too. But this hasn’t deterred my spirit- rising above all of this to provide the best I can has been my sole goal.
My clients often ask me why I never quote a price in the first call- they’re probably very used to the moneymongers who’re all about the “money first” principle. The reason is quite simple; wealth comes around when it’s happy. The work being done should pay for itself. My ideations in this case are not very flexible- I would always accept a smile first rather than an unwanted penny for my thoughts.
Any career in the field of arts requires a lot of creativity. This creativity in my case was dormant for a long time. It takes a lot of effort to polish a skill and know about it in the first place. The pandemic brought lots of experiences for everyone in this world, and I’m blessed to say that mine has been a boon that has changed the course of my life for the better.
The experiences I have received have been numerous, but the learnings have been tremendous in every case. The thought of pulling long working hours used to be a foreign concept for me, but that has changed for the better since I delved into my passion for content. The thought of adding a pinch of personal touch in every single one of them gives me much-needed motivation whenever I sit down to write, which seems grateful for a novice like me!
It is not easy to immerse and combine the two fields i’ve involved myself with. They complement each other, but many practicalities need to be considered. I have set out on this journey with nothing but a learning zeal and a hearty mind to imbibe one new skill at a time, and I’m sure this journey will continue with the same enthusiasm as the first day of my volunteer days. Creating content is easy, but making it meaningful and valuable to the viewers is a charmingly daunting task!
I hope this new journey with Content OTB will provide me with new insights into the content game. My love for content only seems to grow stronger by the day, and nothing more wonderful than to find a space that fosters such minds! Every story and every word counts. This new step in this journey brings me to the company of great minds, each with amazing perspectives to offer.
Content wasn’t always an essential part, but it sure is an enjoyable one when you start to see it as something that adds value to your life. I hope when readers sweep through my journey, they are happy to connect with me on every level!
To everyone who is looking to find their way to making amazing content- this is your cue!
