Lekhak –  Vaishali

This story is about a girl who belongs to a place that’s still unknown to humankind. Before dwelling on how she ended up into writing, here’s a brief description of her beautiful place called Zuzuland. This place is located on the southern pole of the planet Earth, whose gateway is through a big iceberg. It is a totally different world from what other humans perceive in their surroundings. Although its gateway is through the coldest regions on the Earth it has a moderate climatic condition. It never observes extreme winters and scorching summers.  The soft green grass was like a premium carpet covering the entire area, beautiful flowers in a variety of colours enhanced the beauty of Zuzuland. Small rivulets and a variety of trees make the Zuzuland no less than heaven. Just like its beautiful appearance, the residents of this unique place have qualities like being kind-hearted, compassionate, helpful, ethically inclined, integral, and many more.

Zuzuland was established around 65 million years ago by seven superhumans with mystic powers. It was the time when Earth was getting destroyed by some big asteroid impacts. Most of the places were burning, flora and fauna got destroyed and the beautiful lush green surfaces were turned into barren burning lands. In search of a safe place, the seven superhumans established Zuzuland with their magical powers. It was designed in a way that no other humans can ever know about this place until a resident of Zuzuland himself tells about its existence and only two chosen residents are allowed to go into the other habitats on Earth to record the climatic changes. All the rules, regulations, and guidelines were written in their ancient scripture called Zia. This ancient scripture was divided into segments written by seven superhumans who established Zuzuland millions of years ago.

Well, the girl I talked about in the beginning is no one but me. Yes, it is my story about how I came into the world of writing. I was inherited by this precious gift of writing since the time I was born. This is a big statement to confront, even before 2 years I was unaware of the fact that it was my ancestors who wrote Zia, the governing text of Zuzuland. One of the seven superhumans was my great great great….. Grandfather. I was thrilled and proud to know about the untold secret, which I discovered lately, although the time was not right to absorb this great truth. Huhh….. Shortly you will know why the time was not right… For that Keep Reading!

My life was going quite well, my father was a happy teacher, mother used to take care of our house. I have been an obedient daughter who always performed well in school, doing homework on time, and helping friends with their problems. In short, I was living a happy peaceful life. From the very initial days of my learning, one of my favourite places in the house was the study room, stack with plethora of books, thanks to my mother who introduced me to different genres of literature in the early years of my life. Although my parents wanted me to learn more about the atmospheric sciences and how different phenomena happening in the universe affect our Zuzuland. But I was more inclined towards non-fiction. My love for stories from a very young age made me lean towards history and one of my favorite parts to read was the historical angle of Zuzuland. Reading about How, when, and why about this place was my favorite time pass. Over the years, Zia was on my nerves as I had gone through the entire text many times.

Although most of my questions were answered by reading and understanding Zia, one question that always remained undiscovered was what happened to the seven superhumans who established Zuzuland and wrote Zia for the better functioning of the place. Although I tried asking my parents, there were always some stories that never satisfied my deep urge for an apt answer. But one day I got all the answers to my year’s long questions.

It was a lovely morning when my world turned upside down. Many hidden secrets are revealed. My simple carefree life turned into a responsible one. I came to know that teaching was like a veil that hides my father’s real occupation. He was the person who received the messages sent by the two messengers present in the other habitats of the world about the environmental conditions or any upcoming danger. Decoding, writing, and sending them to the secret agency of the Zuzuland was what he was mainly responsible for. This agency is working day and night to keep our beautiful place a hidden secret from the rest of the world. This responsibility has passed into the lineage of the seven superhumans. So, yes it was my ancestors who established this beautiful world and kept it a secret.

It all happened the day when my mother came running and told me that my father had to leave urgently for another world. Before I asked about another world, she revealed everything. For a moment I was taken aback but it was not the time to ponder on those things as I had to take my father’s place on which he was working secretly for years. She also told me about our family’s mission to keep our place a hidden secret. My father had to leave and take over the place of one of the messengers who recently died in one of the missions in Kailas Mountain. Atmospheric conditions in the entire world have a huge impact on our own land and to have accurate information is crucial to keep the Zuzuland working.

It was that day I felt more proud of my family and simultaneously the feeling of responsibility to be part of a mission and keeping our land’s identity a secret was quite overwhelming. Now I can understand why my parents always wanted me to learn more about environmental sciences. Although it’s been two years since I became part of this mission, to veil my real identity I choose to be the writer in our local newspaper. I mainly write stories for children and articles related to health and wellbeing. Since then I decided there’s no other way other than writing which could become my voice. I might not have powers the superhumans possess but in this life and world writing is not less than any superpower. Yes, living a dual life is definitely not easy but I feel proud to be part of this bigger mission.

So, this is all how I ended up in the world of writing!
